The Station District is a new urban part of the city that is taking shape around Tampere Railway Station, with housing, jobs, a raised park, as well as smoother travel chains in the plans for the area. All of the most significant city centre development targets are located in this area.
The Station District comprises the railway station and its surroundings, as well as three deck structures that are to be constructed above the Tampere passenger railway yard and of the high-rises to be erected in connection with these structures. The first of the three decks, the South Deck to the south of the Kalevantie road, was completed in 2020, and two high-rises and the Nokia Arena have already been completed on top of it. Next in line are the North Deck with its high-rise development that is to be built on the other side of Kalevantie, as well as the Travel and Service Centre deck and the high-rises that are to be erected in connection with the railway station.
What’s next?

In connection with the renewal, the Itsenäisyydenkatu underpass and the old indoor station tunnel will be combined into a spacious travel terminal with a tram stop and smooth connections to the station platforms, P-Hämppi underground parking, bicycle parking, as well as the bus platforms that are in the plans for the current Pakkahuoneenaukio square.
