Zoning plan for the extension of the Torni Hotel approved and opened for public review
The plan includes the construction of a new hotel building to expand the Torni Hotel on the east side of Tampere railway yard, in connection with the southern locomotive shed. On 2 December 2025, the Committee for City Planning and Infrastructure Services decided to open the detailed plan proposal to the public. The plan material will be available for public review from 4 December.
Itsenäisyydenkatu underpass will open to motor vehicles on Tuesday 5 August
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency informs that Itsenäisyydenkatu underpass, which was closed at the beginning of June, will be opened to motor vehicle traffic earlier than announced, already on Tuesday 5 August 2025. Pedestrians and cyclists are still prohibited from using the underpass. The changes are related to developing the Tampere railway station area.
